Going out out

Great to let the cows back out to grass today, soundtrack provided by the skylarks in full song. Fantastic day 😎

Gates open

It was great to welcome visitors to the farm for a youngstock meeting last week, it’s been a while! Thank you too everyone that attended and to Friars Moor, TBA and Trouw for organising it.

Trees

Thanks to Nathan and Ian we now have all of these trees planted around the farm, that’s close to 550 trees in the last two years. Thanks also to the Duchy for supplying the trees once again.

NUMBER one tooL

So it turns out less really is more! Identifying the cows as our number one tool has helped us manage our grazing far better this year, significant reductions in inputs and cattle doing as well as they ever have, what’s not to like!

Cover Crops

This year we have sourced spring barley and spring beans for the cover crops. In to the grass that’s going in to maize we have drilled spring beans. Maize going back in to maize is spring barley and spring beans.
